Qualfy vs Dovetail
In July 2026 Dovetail relaunched as a customer intelligence platform: digital twins, agents that act in your other tools, and a first-party MCP server. All of it works on conversations you've already had. Qualfy's job is making more of those conversations happen — and making sure nothing said in them is ever lost.
The same question, asked when the evidence is thin
“Would enterprise buyers block a rollout over missing SSO?”
A persona answering in character
“For a team our size SSO is table stakes — we wouldn't roll out company-wide without it. Security would flag it in the first review.”
Fluent, plausible, and in character. Nothing in the answer tells you whether anyone actually said it.
Qualfy
Your research doesn't answer this. SSO came up in 1 of 9 interviews1, and that participant was relaying their IT team's list rather than their own decision.
“Our IT team has a list. SSO's on it. I don't know if it's a blocker.”
A “no” you can act on: go ask three enterprise admins.
About digital twins
A twin is exactly as current as your last real interview
Twins are genuinely useful for the thing they're good at: desk research, generating hypotheses, and checking whether an idea deserves a real interview slot before you spend one. If your workspace already holds hundreds of conversations, a twin is a fast way to hear what they had in common.
But a twin is a compression of conversations you've already had. It cannot have a new one. The more a team leans on it, the less it interviews; the less it interviews, the older the customer the twin is imitating — and because a twin stays in persona, it never announces that it's speaking for last year. The current consensus in the research community is that synthetic respondents complement real ones and don't replace them.
That's why Qualfy doesn't have a persona mode. A system instructed to stay in character is under pressure to answer when the evidence is thin. Ours is built to do the opposite — and it's built to keep the corpus filling, which keeps our results trustworthy.
Where each one starts
Dovetail starts once the interview exists. Qualfy starts before it does.
This isn't an oversight on their part — it's a decision. Dovetail built a recruiting product with screeners, automated scheduling, and incentive payouts, and retired it in October 2025 to focus on bringing in data from tools you already use. Getting the conversation to happen is, in their own framing, someone else's job. It's ours.

Recordings from those tools are imported after the fact.
Trust
Both products cite their sources. One publishes how often it's wrong.
We make no claim about Dovetail's accuracy — we can't measure it. We can measure ours, and these numbers are checked before every release; if one slips, the release doesn't ship. That includes the last one: a system that never invents an answer is tempted to refuse too often, so we measure that too.

Choose Dovetail when
- Research already flows in from support, sales, surveys, and reviews, and the problem is making sense of it at scale.
- You want agents that act inside Salesforce, Slack, or Linear without a person in the loop.
- Procurement needs ISO 42001, custom retention, and a vendor large enough to sign the paperwork.
Choose Qualfy when
- The bottleneck is talking to people at all — you want weekly calls and get two a month.
- You want interviews to keep booking themselves, with the call recorded and queryable the same day, without a developer.
- You'd rather hear “your research doesn't cover this” than a fluent answer nobody said.
You can use both
If you already have a Dovetail workspace and the problem is keeping it full, that's the exact gap Qualfy fills. Recordings are downloadable on every plan and Dovetail imports them: run the interviews here, keep Dovetail as the system of record.
